What’s the difference between Raw Hair & Virgin Hair?
Virgin Hair:
Refers to hair that has never been chemically altered, dyed, permed, or processed in any way. It is 100% natural and comes from a single donor.
• Characteristics:
• Untouched by any chemicals (no dyeing, bleaching, or perms).
• It may be trimmed or cut but has not undergone any treatments.
• Typically comes in natural colors, like black, brown, or dark brown.
• Can be styled or treated by the user once purchased.
Raw Hair:
• A higher grade of hair that is collected from a single donor (or a small group of donors) and is not chemically processed in any way, like virgin hair. However, it is typically more carefully sourced and curated, often with specific attention to the cuticle alignment and overall quality.
• Characteristics:
• Also unprocessed but may sometimes come from multiple donors (though it’s typically from the same hair texture or type).
• The hair is collected in a way that maintains the cuticle direction, which minimizes tangling and shedding.
• More often, raw hair will be available in a range of textures and can be used for creating custom wigs or extensions.
Key Differences:
• Processing: Virgin hair may still be collected from multiple donors, but raw hair is typically collected with more effort to ensure uniformity and preserve the cuticle direction.
• Texture and Quality: Raw hair tends to be more expensive and is often considered superior due to its minimal handling and higher attention to quality control.
In short, virgin hair is hair that has not been processed, while raw hair takes that a step further with a more deliberate focus on the sourcing and integrity of the hair.
